Testing for Dry Eye

The latest in dry eye testing helps to determine a precise diagnosis and develop a customized treatment plan for each patient.

Tear Lab Osmolarity

  • Tear Lab objectively measures the degree of “saltiness” of your tears
  • High or variable readings indicate that the tear film is unstable and not performing optimally

  • Inflammadry detects the presence of MMP-9, an inflammatory marker.
  • An elevated MMP-9 indicates underlying inflammation. The treatment plan will include methods to decrease inflammation.

Oculus Keratograph 5M

The OCULUS Keratograph 5M is an advanced diagnostic device that is used for evaluating Dry Eye Syndrome and measuring the quality and quantity of the tear film.

Meibomian Gland Imaging

Infrared imaging allows us to evaluate the health of the Meibomian glands. Shorter, damaged glands suggest more advanced dry eye disease.

Tear Break Up Time

A poor quality of tears results in a faster evaporation rate. We can measure and monitor how quickly your tears evaporate during the course of treatment.

Meniscus Test

The pooling of tears is an indicator of whether a healthy amount of tears is being produced.

Lipid Layer

A healthy outer oily lipid layer protects the tears from fast evaporation. The video analysis shows the presence of thick meibum or debris in the tears.
