Meet Our Team in Clive, Iowa
Jennifer received her Bachelor's Degree from Central College in Pella. While at Central, she studied in Mexico and was able to travel the Yucatan peninsula, work in an orphanage, and spend plenty of time on the beach.
She joined Premier Vision Clinic in February of 2022. She has 20 years of leadership experience working for Wells Fargo, UnityPoint, and Conifer Health Solutions. She joined the world of Optometry because it provided her a new opportunity to help people while learning and growing professionally.
Outside of work, you will find her at her kids’ activities. She and her husband of 15 years has four kids: Brayden, Nolan, Kalyn, and Lincoln. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, fishing, watching ISU games, and playing volleyball.
Gabby attended the University of Iowa and Des Moines Area Community College. While in college, she studied medicine. She was in the top 3% of high school graduates in her class. She has a passion for learning and helping people which lead her to optometry.
She grew up in Johnston Iowa. She enjoys traveling and has a goal to visit all 50 states. Some of her hobbies include hiking, rock climbing, swimming, boating, but she still considers herself as a couch potato! She also enjoys spending time with her mom, dad, stepdad, two brothers and two dogs. A fun fact about her family is that they are from Slovakia.
Sally attended Perry Community High School. She has professional training with insurance from working in patient access in the ER. She also has experience working with special needs children and adults.
She works in Optometry because she loves helping people. She is a people person and always wants to make a difference and give exceptional service. Before joining Premier Vision Clinic, she worked at Eye Care Associates for a year. Prior work experience involves working as a manager in telemarketing, a bus driver for eight years, and technician for DaVita.
Sally grew up in Perry Iowa. She enjoys reading, walking, coffee with friends, and spending time with her family and dogs. She enjoys going on Sunday drives with her husband. She feels very connected to her family. They love to laugh, play card games, and enjoy each other's company. Sally has a very strong bond with them.
Melanie has a bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology, and she has several years of experience in the mental health field. She is a licensed aesthetician with over five years’ experience. She attended Iowa State University Academy and is a salon professional.
In high school she was known for her artistic ability and she won a national award for one of her charcoal drawings. She was originally a patient of Dr. DenHartog and a dry eye sufferer. Dr. DenHartog needed an aesthetician to help treat dry patients and it was a perfect opportunity. Melanie has a passion for both dry and aesthetics.
She joined Premier Vision Clinic in January of 2022, and specializes in the radio frequency treatments (TempSure Envi). She is known as Dr. DenHartog’s “Dry Eye Guru.”
She grew up on a farm north of Bondurant and attended Bondurant High School. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her children—Philip and James-- and taking them to parks and splash pads. She enjoys working on her house and yard, spending time with her family and friends, and exercising. She loves being a mom and hanging out with her little guys. She also enjoys baking, being active outdoors, community events like farmers markets, live music, and being social.
Ruth is a retired veteran teacher with teaching experience in Home Ec and art at Pella Christion and Newton. She has work experience in the business, real estate, retail and insurance fields as well. She received her BS from Central College and her MST from Drake University. While teaching she was awarded a teaching internship with the Maytag Corp and an Exchange trip to Taiwan to visit sister schools and former exchange students. She tutored many students as well and now substitute teaches.
She and her husband both grew up on farms outside of Prairie City and were high school sweethearts. They have two married children and five grandchildren whose activities keep them busy (not to mention two cats and a kitten at home.) She enjoys camping, decorating, reading and gardening and preserves many quarts of produce each year. She also enjoys Bible studies and sewing, especially with vintage patterns and fabrics.
Ruth has worked at various positions in her daughter’s optometry practice since it opened in Clive. She currently works in the office at least one day a week and works remotely as well.
